Forum on the Future of St. Raphael Cathedral

St. Raphael Cathedral, a major downtown Madison landmark - whose cornerstone was laid in 1854 - burned into rubble on March 14, 2005.

As a result, the Diocese must determine what to do. The land is in a prime location: there are many options. The Capitol Neighborhood Association, which represents the downtown area, convened a forum on November 27, 2005 to discuss the options.

Carol Lobes and Judy Adrian of the Center for Democracy in Action served to facilitate this meeting. 85 participants discussed a wide variety of options. Bishop Robert Morlino and Monsignor Paul Swain attended the meeting to hear the many ideas. Some smaller follow-up meetings were scheduled with the Archbishop as a result.
